IMASYS is taking over the sales and marketing of Automation Technology's C3 3D camera family in central Europe. Automation Technology is a manufacturer of fast 3D cameras for industrial imaging. Using its proprietary C3 technology, Automation Technology develops and produces laser 'sheet-of-light' sensors for the 3D imaging market that boast maximum measuring speed and resolution.
For example the latest model in the series, the high-speed C3-2350 camera, has a resolution of 2352 x 1728 pixels. At a maximum profile rate of 25 KHz it can deliver up to 58 million 3D points per second. The integrated high-speed C3 processing pipeline determines the height profile of the measured surface with a sub-pixel precision of 1/16 pixel without any loss of speed.

This camera family extends the IMASYS component range to cover 3D measuring applications. Common Vision Blox already supports 3D applications in conjunction with algorithms from the Spanish software company Aqsense, (CVB: see page 5 of the April edition of our newsletter for more information). This enables our customers to exploit completely new application fields and extend existing system solutions.

Our 3D capabilities were recently demonstrated at the AUTOMATICA 2008 trade fair in Munich on a system that attracted a great deal of attention. The test objects moved past an Automation Technology camera on a fast linear drive and were scanned by a laser. The information from the camera was evaluated by the Aqsense software, which produced a disparity map that clearly highlighted any disparities between the test specimen and a master specimen.

The cooperation between Automation Technology and IMASYS is targeted in the French, UK and Irish, Polish, Swiss, Austrian and German markets in particular. The Aqsense 3D software solution is already an optional component of Common Vision Blox and is marketed worldwide via our network of CVB distributors.
